Student at CGS have a right to:

• Participate in safe and supportive environment.

• Access to water and bathroom during class time.

• Privacy and personal space.

• Learn and grow as a dancer and an individual.

• Work and dance in an environment free from all forms of bullying and abuse.

• A voice in matters that concern them.

• A say in their dance training.

• Train at other dance studios.

Students at CGS have responsibility to:

• Show respect to all staff, teachers, and students.

• Thier own training. It is their responsibility to put in the hard work in class and be eager to learn from any, and all teachers at CGS.

• Treat all CGS property with respect. This includes anything in the waiting room or studio (equipment etc.)

• Be ready to enter class on time.

• Apply themselves in class, and remember choreography if part of the competition team.

Other Expectations:

It is essential that students are respectful towards teachers. Talking or chatting whilst a teacher is leading a class is extremely disrespectful. A successful dancer is always eager to learn from every teacher they encounter. Ask questions and take each piece of criticism as tool to help you improve.

Here at CGS you will not bring gossip into the studio, and bullying will not be tolerated. We ask that you respect, welcome and encourage your peers. Remember everyone is equal, and we must treat each other with respect and kindness always. A breach of these standards at CGS will result in stern action being taken. 

Parents at CGS have the right to:

• Wait in a safe, comfortable, welcoming and supportive environment.

• Be treated with respect by CGS staff, students and other parents/carers.

• Have access to studio policies and procedures upon request.

• Privacy of all personal information

• Receive feedback on their child’s learning and progress

• Ask staff for support and guidance with regard to their dancer’s nutrition and body image

• Voice their concerns and/or grievances.

Parents at CGS have responsibility to:

• Read and follow all CGS policies and procedures and agree to the terms required upon registration, including payment of the registration fee.

• Pre-pay for classes by purchasing relevant class passes online, or at the studio.

• Provide correct contact information

• Provide information on any mental, physical or medical conditions that may impact their child while at the studio, including relevant and up to date medical action plans where required.

• Provide consent for their child to be collected from the studio by any person other than themselves or those authorised on the registration form.

• Assist their child in meeting the grooming, footwear and attire policy guidelines.

• Ensure their child’s punctuality for classes. We ask that students arrive 5-10 minutes before the commencement of their class where possible.

• Assist their child to set realistic goals based on their individual ability and experience.

• Encourage their dancer to see professional live dance performances as often as possible.

• Encourage your child to dance, not force them.

• Role-model good nutrition and body image.

Teachers at CGS have a right to:

• Teach in a safe environment.

• Have their qualifications and experience recognised and respected.

• Be listened to and respected by students, staff and parents.

• Privacy and personal space.

• Voice concerns of any matter to studio director.

• Teach based on their skill level and expertise.

• Refuse participation to any child who doesn’t have an eligible class pass.

• Refuse participation to any child who presents with signs of illness as listed in out Illness Policy.

• To leave after the time they have been contracted.

Teachers at CGS have responsibility to:

• Ensure they are comfortable and confident in their teaching abilities.

• Role model correct dance attire, and presentation.

• ensure dance studio flooring and equipment is safe and clean.

• Communicate their love and passion for dance.

• Show professional attitude, including punctuality, reliability and responsible care for students.

• Encourage and support all individual students during class.

• Aim to develop self-discipline and self-motivation in all students.

• Provide correct techniques and presentation of each dance style.

• Recognise that dance plays a significant role in the development of the whole person. Ensure to seek and assist in finding each individual dancers full potential.

• Recognise or establish physical variations or injuries and how to appropriately modify teaching content to accomodate this.

• continually seek more knowledge in all areas of their dance training and work.

• Role-model good nutrition and body image.

• Ensure that their work is authentic and unique.

• Undergo and maintain up to date training that meet legislative requirements of child protection and first aid.

Creative Ground Studio has a right to:

• Maintain and uphold its reputation.

• Ensure all classes are paid for in advance.

• Have their property and faculty respected at all times.

• Refuse entry to persons who it believes may pose a risk to children and young people, or who do not meet the criteria of the current child protection legislation.

The responsibilities of Creative Ground Studio Include:

• Establishing clearly defined aims and goals, with transparent communication of the benefits individual students can expect from these objectives.

• Ensuring that the school and its staff possess the required capabilities to deliver the claimed services effectively.

• Employing teaching staff who possess the necessary experience, knowledge, or qualifications relevant to the levels and techniques taught. Additionally, student teachers will undergo training and supervision to uphold the school's teaching standards.

• ensuring all CGS staff and volunteers have completed the relevant child safe environments training (“Through their eyes”) and hold an up to date Working With Children Screening that meet SA child protection legislative requirements.

• reporting harm or suspected harm of a child or young person to The Child Abuse Report Line (CARL) 13 14 78.

• ensuring relevant staff are trained in Senior First Aid and studio incident management procedures.

• Providing assessment procedures and ensuring that students and parents/guardians receive, or have access to, necessary advice as needed.

• Adhering to sound business practices and implementing an efficient fee system.

• Maintaining appropriate class sizes tailored to the levels and techniques taught, with students grouped by age or proficiency.

• Ensuring compliance with minimum safety standards and space requirements.

• Upholding the privacy of any and all personal information.

• Installing suitable flooring featuring a safe surface designed and constructed to minimise the risk of injury.
